Subject Area

My tutoring is always personalized to the student first, and the subject areas below are simply the contexts we work within. I don’t treat these as rigid tracks—instead, I use them as frameworks to build reading, writing, thinking, and communication skills that carry across classes, tests, and applications.

Courses

AP English Language
Focuses on rhetorical reading, argumentation, and analytical writing. Sessions may include close reading of nonfiction texts, breaking down prompts, building strong claims, and learning how to write with clarity and purpose under time constraints.

AP English Literature
Centers on literary analysis, thematic thinking, and writing about complex texts. We work on how to read deeply, track themes and character development, and write nuanced interpretations supported by evidence—without making analysis feel forced or formulaic.

AP Seminar
Supports research-based thinking, argument development, and synthesis across sources. Sessions can involve refining research questions, evaluating sources, structuring arguments, and developing confidence in presenting and defending ideas.

AP Research
Focuses on long-form research writing and project development. I help students with narrowing research questions, organizing large projects, building logical structure, and maintaining momentum across a long timeline.

Standardized Testing

SAT
Support for Reading & Writing with an emphasis on pattern recognition, question-type strategies, timing, and error analysis. I also focus on helping students build consistency and confidence under timed conditions.

ACT
Targeted support for English and Reading sections, including grammar in context, rhetorical purpose, reading comprehension strategies, pacing, and stamina across longer test sections.

ISEE
Support for younger students with reading comprehension, vocabulary in context, and writing fundamentals, alongside building comfort with test format and timing.

SSAT
Focuses on reading comprehension, writing clarity, and test-taking strategies, with an emphasis on building foundational skills so preparation doesn’t feel purely mechanical.

Applications

College Applications
I support students through every stage of the writing process: brainstorming meaningful directions, shaping a strong narrative arc, refining voice and clarity, and editing for specificity and flow. My goal is not to “polish” essays into something generic, but to help students write in a way that sounds honest, intentional, and true to who they are.
